Why do people aged 55+ dread being called 'senior citizens'? What's wrong with being addressed as a senior? For too long senior citizens have been portrayed as old people who are frail and senile, cranky and grumpy, and ready to be despatched to the hereafter.
Looking at portraits of some of my ancestors, I can understand how such images came about.
